Number 44

I've started and abandoned about seven different posts since the election. Nothing I'm able to summon in words can describe the enormity of what has passed in this country with the ascension of the Junior Senator from Illinois.

We, America, land of Wounded Knee and Dred Scott, where non-white, non-male people have had to fight for their rights & freedoms using the very governmental structures that should have unambiguously guaranteed them in the first place, took 219 years to elect its first non-white chief executive and -- as an added bonus -- he has an African/Arabic name shared by the current president's vanquished foe at a time when that same political opposition has gained and maintained tremendous political advantage not just by pressing the electorate's xenophobia button (at the expense of an entire race & culture both here and abroad who share little more than a religion, language-group and skin tone with a small band of men who successfully and spectacularly struck at us here on our own soil) but also from the demonization of anything simply guilty of being vaguely "not American" or least somewhat French.

44th President of the United States of America: Barack Hussein Obama.

Suck on that, haters.

This is your president now:
